October 01 2010, This is the title of the editorial of Euro Mec on the magazine "L'imprenditoriale"

The magazine “L’Imprenditore” dedicates to Euro Mec a beautiful editorial.
Lorenzo Giordani, Ceo of Euro Mec, released an interview that shows a strong human satisfaction that goes beyond the economic results. Euro Mec, partner of Ngo and institutional subjects, is plant official supplier for compound of ONU worldwide and, in particular,  among the different ONU agencies, collaborates with Unicef supplying drinking water treatment plants in countries where there’s a high water emergency. So, how says Lorenzo Giordani: “When we see photos with women, children and elderly people drawing to drinking fountains linked to our plants fresh and bacteriologically pure water, is a strong emotion”

Here the complete article published on the magazine.
Drinking fountains are not all the same in the world. For example the ones realized since 2005 in the South of Baghdad, in the area of Marshlands, have particular value. In fact, it is the biggest humid ecosystem of the Middle East, damaged by a drying action lasted decades, and the parallel contamination of industrials, pesticides and polluted waste water. In a nutshell, to drink a glass of water in the Marshlands it’s not so easy.
In the last years the depuration of water, started under the aegis of ONU, that included this area among the others subjected to the protection of Unep ( United Nations Environmental Programme). Euro Mec, an Italian company specialized  in the design and realization of water treatment plants, took care of it and in the Marshlands carried out 6 installations. From this first episode, came out a collaboration that has been lasting till today, that brought the company to be the sole supplier of plants for ONU worldwide. Making some examples, Euro Mec’s installations are used by ONU forces displaced now in Darfur, West of Sudan, Timor East in Far East, and in Haiti because of the emergency after the earthquake.  Lorenzo Giordani, ceo of Euro Mec,  shows a satisfaction that goes beyond economic achievements: “When we see photos with women, children and elderly people drawing to drinking fountains linked to our plants fresh and bacteriologically pure water, is a strong emotion”.
In the relationship with ONU Euro Mec, in quality of official supplier, can currently count on some Lta (Lond Term Agreements),  that are contracts of long term lasting 3 years that, in a situation like this, allow certain quietness. A company doesn’t became ONU official suppliers overnight: the way is selective and complicated.  Mr. Giordani explains that: “the respect of ethical code of ONU that precludes, for example, any relationships with weapon producer and trader is added to fiscal warranties”.
According to the procedure of Procurement, that is the system of contracts under which the ONU agencies buy goods and services from the outside, before admitting a company in a tender it is required that the company is registered in the Register of Suppliers. The company has to demonstrate to have what it takes  (technical and professional expertise, suitable plants and personnel, legal capacity to stipulate contracts), then can register only if it has a positive valuation. But it’s not over, cause for a tender is required to potential suppliers some plant prototypes functioning that will be subjected to control tests before the purchase contract.
Working in a so competitive context requires a great effort, only sustainable if the company has a prepared staff and believes strongly in his own product. A product that has to be customized to client needs, as in the case of drinking water plants designed for poor population. Adding that work conditions are harder than usual. For example, preparation camps of the plants are often far miles from airports and in context not urbanized, so packaging and transport need particular carefulness. In case of emergency, velocity is essential and a well-supplied warehouse allows to face the situation.
Last but not least, there is the kind of commitment required by corporate staff: organization of a plant, start-up and maintenance involve availability to travel in uncomfortable areas. In a nutshell, foreign languages in pockets enjoying adventure, forgetting jacket and tie at office for some days.
