BRINE REC: a revolutionary technology that allows waste water and salt recovery directly from dye-bath in textile industry


In the last years, the rising rationalization of industrial processes, the increasing use of efficient and waste water reuse and collection plants , urged Euro Mec  to study new solutions and  innovative technologies for  waste water recovery from dye-bath and salt recovery from effluent water with active an sludge biological system. One of these technologies that allows salt recovery from dye-bath in textile industries is the BRINE REC.

Currently, the residual concentrate coming from membrane separation processes, in particular in “zero discharge” plants is treated with expensive evaporator plants that allow to obtain on one hand a condensate that can be recovered, and on the other a reduced volume of sludge to be disposed containing all the pollutants and salts.

Most of the salt concentration  is contained in the dye bath, so Euro Mec decided to develop an innovative technology working directly on dye-bath discharge or on the dye-bath mixture itself. BRINE REC facilitates salt recovery reducing the quantity and allowing its reuse, isolating the considerable concentrate waste, treating it separately with the treatment plant in which all industry waste is carried in.
The BRINE REC solution allows to:
  • Send to the centralized depuration plant waste which is noticeably less charged with pollutant substances with the added advantage of minor service costs;
  • Recover, at the end of the centralized depuration plant, a greater quantity of water with less costs;
  • Recover a clear and decolorized salt solution that can be reused in the dyeing process or other purposes; for example, to regenerate ion-exchange resin of the softener  plant that treats process water;
  • Recover the heat of the dye-bath.
