Wastewater from textile industry and water recovery treatment

The textile process generates a type of wastewater that constitute a big environmental risk especially for its chemical pollution content.
COD, BOD, Colour and salts are the main pollutants in wastewater from textile and can be removed through a completely biological process,  that transforms pollutants in non-toxic elements for the environment. The bacteria employed are able to transform all pollutant elements in energy under the form of water and carbon dioxide, required for the breathing, and therefore for the survival and growth of bacteria.

Our team is since more than 30 years now specifically working in this field, the same team is the inventor of the treatment based on a completely biological process (totally eco-friendly)  applied in textile sector.

All this has been possible through a long study in the course of many years and thanks to the hundred plants installed all over the world that made possible the analysis of many aspects, many variables, many different conditions that are usually affecting the good performance of the plant.

  • High knowledge of the entire textile process: that allow us to study the most suitable solution for customer by starting from the configuration of their process
  • Utmost care the cost-effectiveness of the solution proposed – our aim is to propose an optimal solution that can be paid back within very short time. This is possible thanks to the very low running/operational costs of our plants.
  • Highly sustainable plants – Our plants are developed by always keeping the safeguard of environment as priority aspect.
In such regard we underline here following our main technologies:

a) Wastewater treatment base on a completely biological process with the exclusive use of bacteria
b) Reuse of wastewater coming from textile industry
c) Reuse of dye-baths
d) Reuse of Salts used in dyeing operations
e) Industrial plants “0 discharge” type
f) Minimal use of evaporators

 We resume herewith the list of innovations made in such direction:
  • employment of fully biological process without use of pre-treatments based on chemical dosing (chemical-physical plants), and through the employment of a pre-anaerobic treatment, so that by combining the fully aerobic process with an anaerobic one avoids the forming of filamentous bacteria. All this based on a uniform air injection by air diffusers with air-diffusing net of AISI-304

  • Employment of carousel shape tanks in biological process, allowing the increase of oxygen transfer in the water, and therefore by highly increasing the quality of outlet parameters of water


  • Development of anaerobic biological process, permit a strong action in case of water having an elevated content of pollutants such as: COD, COLOR etc.

  • Nitrification/denitrificaiton process, that combined with our fully biological process allows the removal of ammonia problem through a natural process made by specific nitrificant bacteria

  • MBR treatment- or Membrane Biological Reactor, is a treatment whose main aim is that to increase the performance by reducing the occupied space and delivering better water quality. The MBR technology consists of membranes which are inserted in cells, inserted inside of the oxidation tank. It has been tested that the employment of such technology is preferable to a standard biological technology when the following conditions take place:
              A) in those installations where it is foreseen to make a recovery of at least 90%
              B) in those installations where the space/area is a problem

  • Ultra-filtration membrane type – allows a complete removal of Suspended solids and is an optimal pre-treatment before Reverse Osmosis plant.

  • Reverse Osmosis – allows the removal and separation of salts, thanks to the 3 stages plant that permits to reach a recovery up to 93% of pure water and a reject flow of only 7%.

  • 4th STAGE of Reverse Osmosis – with special self-washing membranes allows to reach a recovery of 97%. The 4th Reverse Osmosis stage allows a complete recovery of water and has been designed with registered membranes self-washing type that can treat very high salinities but are not unstable, right thanks to a special self-washing Registered process.
The remaining 3% of reject is evaporated by separating the mixture of salts that otherwise would be impossible to treat. The evaporated water is re-condensed by reaching so a total recovery over 99%.

  • SALTS recovery: usually the textile processes in particular dyeing process makes a large use of salts, in the specific: Sodium sulphate (glober salt) and Chloride sulphate (common salt). Through our continuous research we have been able to develop a particular solution able to recover salts through its separation by membranes from water, even directly from dye-baths. In this regards we are pleased to inform you, that on occasion of  ITMA 2011, that will be held from 22nd to 29th September, the Main Exhibition for machines manufacturers in the textile sector,  Euromec will show the working of a Salt Recovery process directly from dye-machines. This INNOVATION, whose Registration is owned by Euromec, is destined to strongly affect the future market of Textile water treatment .
